A Bayesian method for iterative joint detection and decoding in the presence of phase noise

In this paper we describe a new Bayesian algorithm for joint iterative decoding and parameter estimation. In particular, we focus on joint decoding and synchronization of lowdensity parity-check (LDPC) codes in the presence of phase noise. The performance of the proposed algorithm is analyzed by computer simulations showing that a time-varying channel phase, with a rate of change typical of the instabilities of the transmit and receive oscillators, does not entail significant degradation with respect to the case of a known phase.
