In this paper, we report on a study on still image coding using I.F.S. In particular, we focus on two aspects of the algorithm. The first one concerns the definition of the contractive constraint during the coding stage, in order to ensure the convergence of the iterative decoding process. The second one concerns the choice of the initial image for starting the decoding stage.
