Enforcing security often requires the two legitimate parties of a communication to determine if they share a secret, without disclosing information to third parties. In the first part of the talk we will propose a probabilistic distributed protocol that allows two parties, each one having a subset of elements drawn by a pre-determined set, to decide whether the two sets are disjoint. Location Based Services (LBSs) can be defined as services that add value to a user integrating his mobile device’s location with additional information. These services are subject to a privacy threat: the possibility to identify the user that requests a given service and her location at the time of the request. In the second part of the talk we will show how a new recently proposed privacy model for LBS, based on footprints data, can be violated considering the time dimension.
