A novel medium access control protocol for ultrawide band mobile (UWB) ad-hoc networks, that we call self balanced receiver-oriented MAC (SEBROMA), is presented. SEBROMA is fully distributed and does not need a global network synchronization. The proposed scheme is analyzed through Markov chain modeling and it is shown to guarantee a bounded system delay and a non vanishing throughput even at high network loads.
