Congratulations to EURECOM’s team composed of Jose Patino, Héctor Delgado, and Nicholas Evans from the Digital Security Dept. and their co-authors from LIMSI, who have been on the podium three times for the Albayzin Evaluation: IberSpeech-RTVE 2018 Challenge (current edition of the Albayzin evaluation series running since 2006).
The ALBAYZIN evaluation focuses on the multimedia analysis of TV broadcast content provided by the Spanish Corporación de Radio y Televisión Española (RTVE).
Four different tasks were proposed, namely speech-to-text transcription, search on speech, speaker diarization, and multimodal speaker diarization, some of them with multiple tracks. The results, released at the challenge meeting in Barcelona in November, are as follows:
- Open-set diarization challenge - 1st place
- Close-set diarization challenge - 2nd place
- Multimodal diarization challenge - 1st place
It’s the second time this team win, after their first position in the Albayzin 2016 speaker diarization challenge ranking! They submitted to the 2018 edition through the PLUMCOT and ODESSA consortium which brings together EURECOM and LIMSI both partners of the bilaterial research project ODESSA, funded by the ANR in France and SNF in Switzerland.
The challenge was all the more difficult because there were 11 reputed participants coming from Spain, France, USA, Cuba, Germany and UK.
